With Gratitude

Hey yall,

I’ve had a lot of time to reflect on how I would like to spend my waking hours as a human being. I sat down and took a deep breath before I composed this message. The first word that came to mind was alive. For the majority of my life I was living, but unconscious. All of my actions and words were filtered through fear, insecurities, the need to please, projections, and all other types of defense mechanisms we use to fit in and survive.

We come alive when we start to notice these things about ourselves. And we can only notice when we have the courage to look within.

So the answer was simple. Help others rediscover themselves.  I am excited that you’ve decided to join. I’m hoping you will use this site as a resource and a tool for your personal growth.

You can expect weekly blog posts, personal reflections, poetry (including spoken word), visual storytelling. Also: we will play fun word games and prompts to provoke critical thinking.

I create from the world I see around me with an effort to get individuals to look within. Being black in America I deal with a different set of circumstances than my white brothers and sisters do. This is not a debate. This is. I encourage you to read and listen with an open mind.

Lastly, consider this a space where you can connect, go to your journal, and freely express yourself.
